Every year, donors and philanthropists put millions of dollars towards programs whose impact on peace is unclear. We want to change that by highlighting programs that actually deliver on the promise of 'peaceful returns' to each donor's investment.

 

We should know how much it costs to build real peace. But we don't. That's because it's too hard to find information on both the effectiveness and cost of peacebuilding programs. We do the research so that donors can confidently invest in the cause they care most about: preventing damaging and unnecessary conflict around the world.

PeacePerDollar is trying to change this by encouraging peacebuilding organizations to report their costs and more rigorously measure their impacts. We believe that a better market for peacebuilding funding -- including a lot more funding that is currently directed elsewhere -- would bolster the efforts of the entire field. It would also align those efforts towards developing and scaling solutions that prevent unnecessary war.

Who knows: it might even bring about an end to violent conflict altogether.
